Core Member Status |
Those
interior design organizations that endorse the career path for the interior
design profession are eligible for core member status. Stated support
for the career path that includes interior design professional education,
professional experience, and NCIDQ examination combined with continuing
education for professional development, is the cornerstone for core
member status in IDCEC.

Reciprocity among
member organizations insures that interior designers who take IDCEC
approved courses can get continuing education credits applied and accepted
by participating organizations and state licensing boards in those states
where IDCEC courses are universally accepted such as New Mexico, Missouri,
and Florida.
Member organizations
participate in setting standards for quality. Therefore they serve their
constituents by working to insure that a variety of high quality continuing
education offerings are available for their professional development.

Responsibilities
as an Associate Member

As
a Council, IDCEC does not collect membership fees. Member organization’s
representatives are expected to regularly attend the bi-annual IDCEC
meetings at their own expense.
- Core member
organizations are responsible for having a system in place for reviewing
courses submitted for approval. IDCEC requires that that people who
have expertise within the Interior Design field review each course.
- Core group members
are responsible for making council decisions regarding Continuing
Education matters.
- Core Members
may approve CEU courses that are offered only one time (such as those
associated with conferences) in house. Courses seeking IDCEC credit
that are offered repeatedly must be submitted for review by the fellow
IDCEC organizations using the approval process described in this manual.
- Core member organizations
are responsible for continued monitoring of courses they have sponsored
for approval. This monitoring involves 1) collecting and reviewing
participant evaluations of courses reviewing and discussing as necessary
with instructors. IF necessary, core member organization can drop
a course that receives unfavorable reviews; 2) Reviewing approved
courses every three years after initial approval.
- Core member organizations
are responsible for assisting IDCEC in addressing problems with courses
that have been approved through their organization.
- Core Member organizations
are responsible for ongoing public relations and outreach efforts
educating various constituents about IDCEC, its mission, operation
and value to the Interior Design Community.
